Self-host Cops on DockHive

Cops by Sébastien Lucas, now maintained by MikesPub, stands for Calibre OPDS (and HTML) Php Server. COPS links to your Calibre library database and allows downloading and emailing of books directly from a web browser and provides a OPDS feed to connect to your devices. Changes in your Calibre library are reflected immediately in your COPS pages. See : COPS's home for more details. Don't forget to check the Wiki. Why? (taken from the author's site) In my opinion Calibre is a marvelous tool but is too big and has too much dependencies to be used for its content server.

Running Cops on DockHive

Smallest size

Cops needs at least a Micro HivePod (about $2 a month if it runs all the time). Smaller sizes can't be picked for it. It is billed by the hour while it runs, from your plan's included vCPU-hours first, and a stopped pod costs nothing.

Its own HTTPS address

Cops gets its own HTTPS address as soon as it's running. You can also serve it on your own domain: add the domain to the pod and the certificate is issued automatically.

Your data and backups

Cops's data stays on the pod's disk and survives restarts. HivePod backups include all of it, and restoring a backup brings back the same app with the same data.

Questions about hosting Cops

How do I self-host Cops on DockHive?

Open HivePods → App Marketplace in the DockHive console, pick Cops, choose a size and a region and click Install. It runs in its own HivePod at its own HTTPS address, usually in about a minute.

How much does it cost to run Cops?

An app pod is billed like any HivePod: by the hour while it runs, from your plan's included vCPU-hours first. Cops needs at least a Micro pod, which is about $2 a month if it runs all the time. A stopped pod costs nothing.

Where is my Cops data kept?

On the pod's disk, in the region you picked. It survives restarts, HivePod backups include it, and restoring a backup brings back the same app with the same data.

Can I put Cops on my own domain?

Yes. Add your domain on the pod's Custom domains card, create the CNAME and TXT records it shows at your DNS provider, and the HTTPS certificate is issued once the domain is verified.

Is Cops made by DockHive?

No. Cops is an open-source project by its own developers. DockHive's App Marketplace installs and runs it for you.
