Hive Functions · Available now

Run code without a server.

Write a function, deploy it, and it gets its own HTTPS address. Run it on every request or on a schedule, call other APIs, keep secrets and data, and pay only for what runs.

What it's for

The glue your product needs.

APIs

Endpoints and webhooks

Handle Stripe and GitHub webhooks, form posts and small APIs without running a server.

Schedules

Jobs on a timer

Send reports, sync data and clean up records every few minutes or once a day.

AI agents

Tools your agents call

Give an AI agent a URL to call: look things up, call other APIs and return a clean answer.

How it works

Live in three steps.

  1. 1

    Write a handler

In the browser editor, or in your own project with the language you like.

  2. 2

    Deploy

Press Deploy, or run dockhive functions deploy. It builds and goes live in seconds.

  3. 3

    Call it

On its HTTPS URL, on a schedule, or from your other DockHive services.

Features

Everything a function needs.

Its own URL in seconds

Every function gets an HTTPS address. Deploy from the browser or the CLI and it is live.

Fast to answer

A warm function answers in well under a millisecond on our servers, so most of the time a request takes is the network.

Five languages

TypeScript, JavaScript and Python in the browser editor; Go and Rust from your project folder.

Schedules

Run a function every few minutes or on a cron schedule, in UTC. No server to keep awake.

Data that persists

Store small values between requests with the built-in key-value store. It survives every deploy.

Call any API

Make outbound HTTPS calls to payment providers, AI models and your own services, with an optional allowlist.

Secrets

Keep API keys out of your code. Secrets are encrypted and only your function can read them.

Logs and rollback

See every request and log line live, and roll back to any of your last ten versions in one click.

Regions

Close to your users and data.

  • USUnited States (Los Angeles)
  • EUEurope (London)
  • DEGermany (Frankfurt)
  • ASAsia (Singapore)
  • AFSouth Africa (Johannesburg)
  • NGNigeria (Lagos)
  • ABNigeria (Abuja)
  • PTPortugal (Lisbon)

Pay for what runs

Measured exactly, never for idle time.

Every request is measured in compute units, a fixed amount of work. Beyond your plan it's $0.10 per million requests and $5 per million compute units. A function waiting for traffic costs nothing.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Guides for every language are in the Hive Functions docs.

What is Hive Functions?

Hive Functions runs your code without a server. You write a function, deploy it, and DockHive gives it an HTTPS address and runs it on every request or on a schedule. You pay only for requests and the compute they use.

Which languages can I use?

TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Go and Rust. TypeScript, JavaScript and Python can be written and deployed in the browser; Go and Rust deploy from your project folder with the DockHive CLI.

How is it priced?

Beyond your plan: $0.10 per million requests and $5 per million compute units. One compute unit is a fixed amount of work (one billion steps of your code), measured exactly for every request, so you never pay for idle time.

How fast is it?

A deployed function answers in well under a millisecond on our servers in our tests; the first request after a deploy takes longer while it loads. Pick the region closest to your users for the lowest latency.

Can a function call other APIs and keep data?

Yes. Functions can make outbound HTTPS calls, read encrypted secrets and store values in a built-in key-value store that survives deploys. You can limit outbound calls to a list of hosts.

Where does my function run?

In the region you pick when you create it: United States, Europe, Germany, Portugal, Asia, South Africa or Nigeria (Lagos or Abuja). Its code, data and schedules stay there.
