What is Hive Buckets?
Hive Buckets is S3-compatible object storage from DockHive. Create a bucket in the console, make an access key and store files of any type: user uploads, images, video, backups and build artifacts. Keep them private and share them with presigned URLs, or make a bucket public.
Is Hive Buckets S3 compatible?
Yes. The AWS CLI, boto3, the AWS SDKs, Laravel, Django (django-storages) and rclone work with Hive Buckets: point them at your Hive Buckets endpoint and use your access key. Presigned URLs, versioning, object lock, bucket policies and CORS are supported.
How is Hive Buckets priced?
Every plan includes storage. The Free Tier includes 5 GB of storage and 10 GB of downloads a month. The Developer Plan ($3/month) includes 25 GB of storage and the Pro Plan ($15/month) 250 GB; on both, downloads share the plan's bandwidth (100 GB and 500 GB a month). Beyond that, storage is $0.02 per GB-month and downloads $0.02 per GB. Uploads are free and there are no request fees. With pay as you go, the first 5 GB of storage is free, then $0.02 per GB-month. The Scale Plan is custom.
What happens on the Free Tier when I hit the limits?
The Free Tier has hard limits and never bills you. Once your buckets hold 5 GB, new uploads are refused until you free up space or upgrade. Once you've used 10 GB of downloads in a month, downloads stop until the next month or until you upgrade. The files you've stored stay where they are.
Which regions is Hive Buckets in?
Hive Buckets has regional endpoints in United States (Los Angeles), Europe (London), Germany (Frankfurt), Asia (Singapore), South Africa (Johannesburg) and Nigeria (Lagos). Pick the region closest to your users when you create a bucket.
What is the maximum upload size?
A single upload request can be up to 100 MB. Larger files upload automatically in parts with standard S3 tools such as the AWS CLI, boto3, the AWS SDKs and rclone, so big files need no extra work.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your files are encrypted and stored across multiple regions, so a whole region can go down without losing data. You choose whether each bucket is private or public, and you control access with scoped access keys, bucket policies and presigned URLs.
Can I host a static website from a bucket?
Not yet. Static website hosting from a bucket is not available. To put a static site live today, deploy it with App Hosting: Drone builds it and serves it with HTTPS on your own domain.
