Running SnapOtter on DockHive

Smallest size

SnapOtter needs at least a Micro HivePod (about $2 a month if it runs all the time). Smaller sizes can't be picked for it. It is billed by the hour while it runs, from your plan's included vCPU-hours first, and a stopped pod costs nothing.

Its own HTTPS address

SnapOtter gets its own HTTPS address as soon as it's running. You can also serve it on your own domain: add the domain to the pod and the certificate is issued automatically.

Set up at install

The install form asks for one setting before SnapOtter starts. Everything else, including passwords other services need, is generated for you.

Your data and backups

SnapOtter's data stays on the pod's disk and survives restarts. HivePod backups include all of it, and restoring a backup brings back the same app with the same data.

Questions about hosting SnapOtter

How do I self-host SnapOtter on DockHive?

Open HivePods → App Marketplace in the DockHive console, pick SnapOtter, choose a size and a region and click Install. It runs in its own HivePod at its own HTTPS address, usually in about a minute.

How much does it cost to run SnapOtter?

Where is my SnapOtter data kept?

On the pod's disk, in the region you picked. It survives restarts, HivePod backups include it, and restoring a backup brings back the same app with the same data.

Can I put SnapOtter on my own domain?

Yes. Add your domain on the pod's Custom domains card, create the CNAME and TXT records it shows at your DNS provider, and the HTTPS certificate is issued once the domain is verified.

Is SnapOtter made by DockHive?

No. SnapOtter is an open-source project by its own developers; see docs.snapotter.com/guide/getting-started for its documentation. DockHive's App Marketplace installs and runs it for you.
