Running Elasticsearch on DockHive
Smallest size
Elasticsearch needs at least a Medium HivePod (about $8 a month if it runs all the time). Smaller sizes can't be picked for it. It is billed by the hour while it runs, from your plan's included vCPU-hours first, and a stopped pod costs nothing. A Medium pod needs more than the Free Tier's 1 vCPU, so use the Developer or Pro Plan.
Its own HTTPS address
Elasticsearch gets its own HTTPS address as soon as it's running. You can also serve it on your own domain: add the domain to the pod and the certificate is issued automatically.
Set up at install
The install form asks for one setting before Elasticsearch starts. Everything else, including passwords other services need, is generated for you.
Your data and backups
Elasticsearch's data stays on the pod's disk and survives restarts. HivePod backups include all of it, and restoring a backup brings back the same app with the same data.

Questions about hosting Elasticsearch
How do I self-host Elasticsearch on DockHive?
Open HivePods → App Marketplace in the DockHive console, pick Elasticsearch, choose a size and a region and click Install. It runs in its own HivePod at its own HTTPS address, usually in about a minute.
How much does it cost to run Elasticsearch?
An app pod is billed like any HivePod: by the hour while it runs, from your plan's included vCPU-hours first. Elasticsearch needs at least a Medium pod, which is about $8 a month if it runs all the time. A stopped pod costs nothing.
Where is my Elasticsearch data kept?
On the pod's disk, in the region you picked. It survives restarts, HivePod backups include it, and restoring a backup brings back the same app with the same data.
Can I put Elasticsearch on my own domain?
Yes. Add your domain on the pod's Custom domains card, create the CNAME and TXT records it shows at your DNS provider, and the HTTPS certificate is issued once the domain is verified.
Is Elasticsearch made by DockHive?
No. Elasticsearch is an open-source project by its own developers; see www.elastic.co/products/elasticsearch for its documentation. DockHive's App Marketplace installs and runs it for you.
